AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHHH!
ROOT CANALNOUN:
1. A pulp-filled channel in a root of a tooth.
2. A treatment in which diseased tissue from this part of the tooth is removed and the resulting cavity is filled with an inert material.
3. A modern equivalent of medieval torture involving molar clamps, hypodermic needles, mechanical burrs, mechanical drills often performed by dentists.
From this day forward I promise to limit my sugar intake especially with regard to my morbidly obscene Irn-Bru habit! Never again do I fancy having that done nor do I want to experience dribbling coffee whilst blogging again anytime soon!
Fair play to the dentist though, she was quick and reassuring whilst performing the procedure and also fair play to the NHS for charging me a pittance for the pleasure! w00t!
Anyways better dash so I can enjoy having nothing to do until January the 2nd next year (I know it's only another fortnight or so but it fools my tired mind into believing its longer).

I feel your pain. 2 of my teeth needed root treatment (same thing I think) @ £250 each. I was poor at the time, and in agony, so I went down the extraction route... and god that hurt like nothing I've ever experienced before. :(
How I wish I had an NHS dentist.
Yikes!!! I'm so so sorry. That sounds horrible.
Aye tell me about it! Oh Dawson if you need dental treatment fast and on the NHS get in touch with G-DENS / Grampian Dental Advice line on some 0845 number... the only catch is you need to not already have a dentist. Bizarre eh?!
I too have experienced the torture of root canal, its a stinger alright.
G-dens are good although if you need things like fillings they can only give you a temporary one meaning either you have to go private or become a regular visitor to the free service. a nightmare for the patient and more expensive for the NHS in the long term.
Good old NHS :)
